Probably cinnabar moth caterpillars. They were introduced to eat some invasive species in much of the world. Probably not something to worry about.

A lot of Homeowners hate caterpillars because they eat plants and might mess with their esthetic. But unless you’re trying to keep them out of a vegetable garden or something, there’s really no reason to do anything about them. And they don't really go after those sort of plants. Mostly just tree leafs. Unless you get upset to see some little holes in tree leafs.

I guess they crawl into your ear when you are sleeping and lay their eggs in your brain.

I clipped the tents out of 4 trees and thre w them i n the gas grill. Let it all burn down to ashes. There is on birch where the tent is too high, I’m hoping it will not spread further. In recent years, I have lost 5 trees on the hill behind the house due to infestations. I have a bunch of yellow sticky traps hanging back there now. The downside to these is I am also catching lady bugs on them, not many, but I want the lady bugs to be able to eat the aphids.
